Isaiah: A Warrior of the Light

A Warrior of the Light accepts his Personal Legend completely.

His companions say: “He has remarkable faith!”

For a moment, the Warrior feels proud, then immediately feels ashamed of what he has heard because he does not have as much faith as he appears to have.

At that moment, his angel whispers: “You are only an instrument of the Light.
There is no reason to feel proud or to feel guilty. There are only reasons to feel happy.”

And the Warrior of the Light, aware now that he is but an instrument, feels calmer and more secure.

Brothers,

Since the beginning of the first semester we have read from Paulo Coelho’s Warrior of the Light. The book is a compilation (collection) of short sayings on accepting failure, embracing life, and rising to your destiny.

Interestingly—and I don’t know if you’ve noticed this—each passage that you’ve chosen has corresponded with some theme that we’ve discussed in class for the day’s or week’s Scripture readings.

Take, for instance, the passage above. How do you think it applies to Isaiah’s vision and response to God’s call in 6: 1-13? Both the passage above and the Bible passage have to do with vocation—a calling to which the “warrior” must respond in order to fulfill his mission in life, to “accept his Personal Legend completely.”

Keeping that in mind, I would like you to create your own Warrior of the Light saying based off of some message or theme revealed in the chapters that we read from Isaiah this week. The reflection is due Feb. 12.

Create your own saying in the format and style that Coelho uses to get his point across. In other words, imitate the way he writes his notes, using the passage above as a model. Notice the structure of his saying:

  1. He begins with a specific statement about what the Warrior of the Light does or doesn’t do; believes or doesn’t believe; acts like or doesn’t act like.

  1. In the following three lines, he describes some type of conflict that the Warrior deals with and what his conduct is in dealing with the conflict.

  2. The last line is a concluding statement that resolves or eases the sense of conflict the Warrior feels or deals with. It is usually some life lesson or moral—what could be called a maxim: a principle, a rule of conduct, or a moral truth.

The Warrior of the Light does not falter from his path.
When he is tempted, he turns away from sin.
He remembers his mission, he remembers what he was sent to do.
He readily puts his armor back on and takes sword and shield in hand.
He is a soldier part of the countless legions of Heaven's army.
He is a modern day prophet of hope who shall slay the enemies of the the eternal light.
He carries with him pain and sorrow, happiness and joy.
He remembers his path, the path that was chosen for him and the other Warriors of the Light.
He knows it is his duty to lead others to that path.
And he remembers he is but a lowly man of God.
He is to lead the sinners and saviors out of the world of greed and darkness and into the world of light.
He shall be the one who will conquer all darkness.
He shall be a Warrior of the Light.

Isaiah ch. 3, 11

The Warrior of the Light travels through a Labrynth. The Labrynth is dark and always moving making it unpredictable. Around every cornor is something to further challenge the warrior to make the wrong turn and never leave the Labrynth. And there is always the option that the warrior could give up and leave. But the warrior of the light is strong and never fearing, always remembering his faith and his duties and this gives him inspiration to contiune into the unknown. Eventually the warrior will exit the Labrynth and enter a warming light. Isaiah 27:1-7

The Warrior of the light shall be tested by many trials set by god to prove his holiness. The Warrior of the light will never fall of his horse and give into the temptations of sin. The Warrior of the light shall always be forced to choose and through his own choices god will deliver the Warrior of the light to the heavens. The true Warrior of the light in the end will conquer all sin, temptation and bribe and shall bask in the glory of God forever and ever.

The Warrior of the Light does not wait for destiny.
He runs after it, sprinting at an unfathomable place. He knows that he may never catch it yet he runs aimlessly.
The Warrior forever yearns to know his fate. Haste consumes him and he vehemently runs unaware of his unforbearing state.
Energy now abating, the warrior is hindered along his journey.
He slackens yet does not accept failure.
His limbs ache with the weight of sorrow and sin. His mind unduly throbs with vengeance and suffering. Yet his spirit pushes on avenging his body of the pain it endured and igniting hope within him.
Yet the Warrior soon loses sight of his fate. His vision clouds as darkness enshrouds the daylight.
The warrior is blinded by his own sin, unable to now even face his destiny that he has been craving so avidly.
He soon gets lost along his path blindly feeling his way throughout creation.
He then stills abruptly as destiny taps his shoulder. The Warrior then turns around to find destiny already waiting behind him.
His destiny accepts the ragged mess he has become over his journey and guides him still along a much brighter path on which he will never lose the Light.

the warrior of the light has a great and deep respect for the almighty divine power. he respects his leader God and will not disobey him in anything he does. the warrior has a certain fear of the great divine power and this helps him to obey his masters will. he never gives into to powers that oppose God's desire for peace. the warrior's faith is strong and nothing can destroy it . the warrior respects God and his plan. this is what makes him a true warrior of the light. isaiah chapter 24 verses 1-3

The warrior of light does not falter from christanity."Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord."

When he is on the verge of backsliding he calls on to God to help him find the light and to get back on track from sin. To conquer that goal he ministers to his fellow brother and sister in Christ and witnesses to them how he got his life back on track and turned away from sin. To be one with the most God up high he is the moderen day prophet of leadership by leading his people on the right path to christianity

The Warrior of the Light sees a vision
This vision is a beautiful vineyard. Which is on a fertile hill. He first has to clear it of stones and plants.
He makes a watchtower in the middle of it. To watch his his vineyard. He also made a wine vat. Which he expected to grow grapes. But Jerusalem judges his vineyard. He doesn't know what else to do in his vineyard. He decides to remove the hedges and it will be destroyed. He will break the wall and will be stepped on. The wall becomes a wall of thorns. He will tell the clouds not to rain. He decides to destroy to his vineyard. The people couldn't appreciate the vineyard the just wanted to destroy it. So he just destroyed it himself. The Warrior of the Light can now get away from the darkness of the people. He can just rest.

The Warrior of the light speaks out at what he knows is wrong, even when it is unpopular.

Because of the unfaithfulness of others, the Warrior is surrounded by darkness. Many times he feels lost and confused, and he feels that the darkness is slowly creeping in on him because of its ignorance and arrogance. The dark feels it has great faith when it is actually shallow and deceiving.

However, the Warrior sees light and glory coming in the future and is encouraged to continue leading as many as he can out of the dark.
